Centrally located in the Mita neighborhood of Tokyo, this office building fills a block bordered on one side by a highly trafficked thoroughfare and on the other by an elevated highway above the Shibuya River.
It has major visibility on two sides, and on two different levels. The design intervention consists of the complete renovation of both the façades and the interior.
The new principal façade is characterized by a vertical wood-louvered sunscreen. At the upper-most floor, the screen curves inward defining an intimate, common roof terrace,
and serving as an effective backdrop to the company logo.
The design combined with the innovative use of a company logo within the design context, are a first application of an aggressive branding strategy for the client.
It is reinforced by the use of colored illumination applied to the new façade behind the louver system.
Logo and louver join to give utmost brand recognition in the urban context.
